What poem changed the way you see the world—or yourself?
Join me for a free, informal poetry conversation celebrating the poems that stay with us and sometimes change us in ways we never expected.
Inspired in part by my My Favorite Poem project as Poet Laureate for Miami-Dade County, this gathering invites poets and lovers of poetry to bring a poem by a contemporary poet that has meaningfully changed how they see themselves or the world. Perhaps it helped you through a difficult moment, made you feel less alone, or simply revealed something about the world you hadn’t noticed before.
Come ready to share a poem you love and tell us why it matters to you. We’ll read, listen, and talk together about what makes these poems memorable—and about the ways poetry can shape how we understand ourselves, one another, and the world around us.
This is not a workshop or lecture, but a shared space for conversation, discovery, and the simple pleasure of talking about the poems we love.
Bring a poem. Bring your perspective. Come share what poetry has given you.
Free and open to all poets and lovers of poetry.
Limited to the first 20 people who sign up.
